Help African Animals (HAA) is a non-governmental organization based in Uganda. We work to protect the lives of African animals by influencing the human mindset and behavior towards animal protection.
We accomplish this mission by raising awareness about animal law. We specifically educate stakeholders of the criminal justice system, institutions of learning, and the general public about wildlife crime and other crimes against animals, their effects, the laws protecting animals, and the punishments for violations.

How We Influence
Mindset & Behavior
Through workshops, talks, materials distribution, and policy advocacy, we target all layers of society.
Animal Law Workshops
We organize animal law workshops for judges, magistrates, prosecutors, and law enforcement officers. We train them on Uganda's animal protection laws, proving offences, handling exhibits, trial preparations, witness examination, statements, and penalties.
Community Wildlife Talks
We travel to rural villages and meet the true keepers of wildlife in Uganda. We educate community members about laws protecting animals, penalties for violations, wildlife crime, and effective ways to conserve species in their areas.
Law Materials Distribution
We compile, print, and distribute legal reference materials protecting animals in Uganda to criminal justice system stakeholders, institutions of learning, and the general public.
Educational Posters
We produce and distribute posters that educate communities and the public about wildlife crime, crimes against animals, environmental protection laws, and penalties for violations.
Legislative Advocacy
We advocate for the enactment of stronger, more comprehensive animal protection laws in Uganda, closing legislative loopholes that exploit wildlife.
Enforcement Support
We advocate and support proper enforcement of animal protection laws, working side-by-side with investigative teams to ensure violations are successfully prosecuted.
A Fight for Humanity
Through raising awareness, Help African Animals saves the lives of animals that would be killed and people who would have to suffer as a result of animal-related crimes.
The fight against animal-related crimes is a fight for humanity because these crimes affect both humans and non-human animals alike. We strive to contribute to making the world a safe place for all. Every person in their different professions and roles has an opportunity to protect animals.
